IIBA Business Analysis Body of Knowledge (BABOK) Certification Prerequisites
The IIBA® has set the following business analysis work experience criteria for applying to sit their Exams:
- ECBA™: 0 years
- CCBA®: 2-3 years
- CBAP®: 5+ years
Two hours of reading per night will be assigned during class.
IIBA Business Analysis Body of Knowledge (BABOK) Certification Information
- Attendees receive the BABOK® Guide version 3 and a set of study cards used with exercises in the course and later as a study tool.
- Students receive access to an electronic question bank to continue studying for 90 days.
- At the end of class, students have the opportunity to take a practice exam designed to match the question breakdown of the ECBA™. You will receive included access to Learning Tree practice questions for 3 months.
The IIBA® requires some professional development training before sitting for the ECBA exam. Please refer to your regional IIBA website for more specifics on professional development training.

- IIBA requires 35 hours of professional development (PDUs/CDUs) in the previous four years.
- Learning Tree’s Course 3515 provides 18 of these PDUs
- The remaining PDUs can be earned through the following types of activities:
- Self-Study of BABOK® Guide: 15 hours
- IIBA.org Webinars (recorded): 8 hours (Watch 8 different 1-hour webinars from their library)
- IIBA Local Chapter Meetings: 5 hours (Attend 3-4 virtual or in-person meetings)
- These hours must be aligned with the IIBA BABOK® Guide knowledge areas and can come from courses, workshops, or training programs that focus on business analysis.
